The 2009 Hawaiian Eye conference led us to the famed Wailea Beach Resort. Aaron kept himself busy riding around the island on a rented bicycle, taking kite-boarding lessons and even sailing a hobie-cat with one of the other tag-along husbands while Carol worked hard at the conference.
After the conference we found time to visit the small island of Molakai for a long bike ride to see the waterfall at the end of the road. Along the way we saw a blind runner using a stick to keep himself aligned properly on the road. An amazing feat not possible in too many places.
The ferry ride return put many of the whales on display while they visit this area every winter for mating season. We also found time to Scuba Dive at the Cathedrals along the south coast of Lanai.
Could there be a better place than Hawaii in January? Not such a bad business trip after all.
